12/10/2004 Archived Entry: "Just Yammering about iRO..."
Friday, thank heavens. I'll probably be doing some website work when I get home today or I might just save it for the weekend and let my mind unwind.
I got grilled with questions by someone in private message on my board, that kind of set me off in a bad mood. I'm not even in a good mood to start off with. If it's anything I really can't stand is people pummeling me with questions that aren't really all as in dire need of answering as they make them out to be. I've got a lot of things to catch up on, little things on the board isn't going to make or break it.
So today I think I'll just take my mind off things and ramble about iRO for a bit. No feelings hurt if you don't care or don't read on.
In iRO news....
I'm wondering if and when they'll do a new Christmas event. The Christmas events are always fun. They let loose two special monsters (Antonio, Santa Poring) that drop Christmas items: red sock, candy cane, well-baked cookie, Santa hat, candy. An Antonio looks like a bum with a scraggly white beard dressed in a tattered Santa outfit and a sack that when he opens it a shady hand comes out and grabs at you. He drops "red sock", if you take three or four of these to the real Santa Claus in Lutie (that's iRO's year-round Christmastown) he'll give you a "gift box". A gift box is kind of like an "old blue box" or "old purple box" which gives you a random item.
Christmas 2002, iRO Beta
Christmas 2003, iRO Sakray
You know what this means? That I've been playing iRO consistantly for about three years give or take a few months. Incredible, huh? I wish long-time players got some sort of incentive. Recognition of some kind would be nice. You know, it's the long-time players that appreciate it most. It's the long-term players that actually care enough to offer praise to the fabulous progammers and designers that make it possible for us to play. These new players don't know how good they have it! LoL! Not to sound like the old geezer on the porch chair, but... I remember when you had to guess what the bad "Engrish" translations were supposed to mean in things like headgear quests and even job change! Then again, it was easier to job change because there were no tests to take for second class jobs. Even my Hunter on Sakray didn't have to take a hunter test because that wasn't implemented until the first iRO major map update was in place.
