This whole political race reminds me of the October 14th MVP summoning and then the one two days after that. At first it was like "Wow! We got all these bosses in one place! Awesome!" and we fought them, duked it out, died and res'ed a few times, and then the boss would die and all was well again. But then, the next time we did it we summoned Baphomet.
Baphomet is vicious, every bit as nasty as the other bosses, but he's got a serious one-up from all the other boss monsters in that he does ground splash damage with his scythe. As in, you don't even have to be engaged in combat to take damage! You could be standing three or four cells away and still take some serious pain from from this guy! What's more is he summons Baphomet Jr., his tiny little spawn with tiny little scythes of their own and they, too, dish out some serious pain.
How is this like the political race? I'll tell you... When we summoned Baphomet we were like "Holy shit, we got Bapho! AWESOME!" But... after fighting -and- fighting -AND- fighting -AND!- fighting and repeatedly dropping dead and having to respawn and rush back for like... half an hour, the sucker still wasn't dead! Even the party I helped summon Bapho with was tired! I think it was the Wizard in our party who said "Can we just... forget about Bapho now?"
That's how I feel about this right now. Like you've used up all your bluegems resurrecting and healing people who've been constantly battling Baphomet. Like you've used up all your healing items, your party is lying on the ground in a bloody heap, and you think it might be wiser to stay dead along with them.
But once you summon Baphomet, you're pretty much commited more now as a matter of "Okay, I put him here, now I gotta deal with him." But a lot of the times you're thinking...
"Can we just... forget about Bapho now?"
