John and I were talking last night about the RPG games we play.
I was all gung-ho about "World of Warcraft", but now they're using the excuse that since they just now opened a Euro beta test the release date has been moved up another month to November. That's ridiculous. If they just said the truth, I'd be more understanding. If they said "We're not certain, so we can't give you a named month." or "We're greedy bastards, we want to cash in by releasing it on another game's release date." You know, I'd've probably been cool with either of those. John says it's because they want to release it in rivalry with Sony for "EverQuest2". If that's the real reason, I am NOT buying the game. I can't believe companies stoop to that level. For one, the EQ2 kiddies aren't going to hop onto WoW if they're already into the first EQ. They're waiting for EQ2 because they LIKED the original EQ. I don't know what kind of crack game companies are smoking sometimes. It seems like when they've already got a good thing going they drop a ripe, fat steaming turd right on it and say "Look! We made it better! :D ...? Why are you looking at us like that!?"
For "Ragnarok Online", John's fear is that there will soon be an end for Sakray when the game is given enough updates so that it is caught up with kRO (the original Korean servers, home of RO). I've concluded that when Sakray goes, I'm going to. Period. I don't like Chaos or Loki, I like the way Sakray is now and there's a greater sense of community there than Chaos or Loki. No insult to the people that actually work to make Chaos and Loki a better community, but... it won't ever be Sakray. I've known people who've been playing solely on Sakray since it was first made available as I have been. I'm sure they feel the same way.
