10/01/2004 Archived Entry: "So confused...!"

I'm so confused! You all know by now (if you don't, you must be new!) that I love Ragnarok Online. It's the only MMORPG that I've been playing for years now! In any case, I've made changes on a few of my characters...

For starters I've deleted my old alchemist to make a new one. I've got a new skill list and stat list and everything for the new one and thankfully the new one is leveling much faster and I've got all this awesome gear for her. That's all well and good, but that means I have this one slot left for something. I thought it would be fun to try for a Super Novice when they are implemented, for kicks.

Frankly, I just can't think of any other type of character to put in that slot, so why not a Super Novice? When KunLun is implented next week, the Super Novice -class- will come with it. I think it'd be an interesting challenge, personally, and I can't think of any other class I'd want to put there. Here's a list of all the classes I've tried and why I do or don't want to have that class of character.

Archer Class
Hunter - KEEPING! No way in hell am I deleting my level 86 Hunter. I've got a lot of emotional attachment to that one character as she was my first and for a long time my only character on the test server Sakray. It's because of my Hunter that I have kept with iRO for so long.
Dancer - KEEPING! I love this character, not just for the novelty but for the fact that she's dealing more damage than my Hunter is! By means of the whip, if you put my Hunter (sans Falcon) and my Dancer head-to-head, my Dancer will deal out more punishment per strike because of the sheer amount of DEX she's got. I've got Power Cord, but no Bard to help me out. It sucks sometimes, ensemble skills are worthless when the bard ratio in the game is so low.

Acolyte Class
Priest - KEEPING! I'd be incredibly stupid to delete my full-support priestess! She's the most versatile in that I can party with virtually any class and I've got a few skills maxed that not all priests have.
Monk - I had a monk, it was fun at first but then it got tedious and boring for me. It's basically a very fast melee character but with not enough INT to support some of the skills they've been given because those stats need to go into something else like AGI, STR, and DEX. A monk is basically like a Holy property Assassin.

Merchant Class
Blacksmith - I've never officially made a blacksmith. It's basically a Vit-Knight with power-ups.
Alchemist - KEEPING! No matter what, I'll always have an alchemist of some persuasion, I love this class! They are more versatile than people give them credit for. It's almost like having an option to be a battlesmith or support priest in that you can go melee and/or chemical warfare. I'm learning new things about this class as I am with my Dancer. Successful experimentation is ALWAYS fun!

Swordsman Class
Knight/PecoKnight - I -may- rebuild a new Sirocco, for old time's sake... Maybe. I may build a hybrid to my own specifications. The idea is suddenly appealing.
Crusader - I had a 'sader, they're fun, but only good as meat shields ultimately. But... I think we may need a meat shield for MVP's should John and I ever plan on it. The 'sader test is insanely easy.

Mage Class
Wizard - I'm going to be truthful with myself, I can't STAND being a full magic user. It's like having to sit on my hands because you can't kill anything with your hands worth a damn. I really don't like being a Wizard, not even when I was learning how to vertical firewall. This just is not a class for me.
Sage - Sages are at the moment kind of useless in that not many people have been experimenting with them enough to find their potentials. They've got weird skills that a lot of us are scratching our heads over, it probably makes sense overseas where they've got an upgraded map and game system. .... Dragonology?? These guys are good as hybrid Wizard-team classes, though, I've seen this be really successful. If I was inclined to work with other people as an elementalist, I might pick Sage over Wizard, you get a little more physical benefits.

I think I've come to a decision, by making this list...
A.) I -know- what I want to keep, I've got one slot remaining.
B.) With that one slot remaining, I must choose between remaking Sirocco OR making a Super Novice. I think I'll flip a coin on this one.
