09/27/2004 Archived Entry: "You can feel the Fall..."
You can feel the Fall coming. It's soooo nice to actually see seasons turn, you never truly got that in south Texas. In south Texas, you got temperatures more than seasons...
It was:
Summer - Hot, Humid, Random Rain
Late Summer - REALLY Hot, Humid, No Water, Beginning of Hurricane Season
Fall - Hot With Cool Mornings, Warm Nights, No Water, Middle of Hurrican Season
Winter - Like Spring in Nothern States, Rain off and on, Best time to visit, End of Hurricane Season
Spring - Like Summer in Northern States, Best time to hit the beach
So, based on that and how I've been climatised now for Northern States I'm planning on seeing my folks between November and January. Thing is, I've got this art glass project to do and then there's Christmas up here with John's family. I don't think his parents would be hurt if we miss Christmas, since we all have Thanksgiving dinners together, anyway. The art glass, however, MUST be completed before Christmas and that means it may be that I have to do the painting for it until mid-December and that was the time I had been hoping to see my folks. I may wait for January when the airports won't be so insane.
It's the flight to Texas that's got me all worked up. If it weren't for the airlines being in pan-delerium during the November-December months it wouldn't be any problem getting to see my folks. You have never known what sheer MASSES of people look like until you go and try to shop after Thanksgiving! GAH! This is a good time to seek medication for your social phobias, is all I can say. I'm trying my damnedest to avoid the insanity as much as possible while still being able to go see my folks while the weather is nice for it.
I'll have to call my folks and see if they're willing to wait a few months or if somehow I can work up the intestinal fortitude to go out of town on the most mind-killing season of the year! If we can set something up for January, that'd be the best, but my mom's really anxious about seeing me again and frankly I'd like to see my family, too! I haven't seen them since my sister got married and that was almost two years ago as their anniversary is on the 21st of December. Maybe we can figure something out for that week before Christmas like we did last time... *think think think* I feel like Pooh-bear thinking with only fluff for brains. @.@

I had a blast with my friend Will and his buddy whom I only know as "Mal" on iRO on Friday night. We all went to Amatsu soon after discovering we'd die horrible, non-profitable deaths on Turtle Island. It'll be nice when we're all at a good level for a share party, though, we were all on the same party but too far apart for decent share as some of us kill certain monsters in Amatsu field faster than others. Whilst killing the Hydras (pesky, ranged ground monsters that look like wriggling, land anaemones) off so Will and Mal could do the mini-quest to gain access to Amatsu dungeon, John and I fought off the killer respawning of them and I found a Hydra Card!!
In game money terms, this card yields 1-1.4 million zeny! So with the money I got from the card I was able to afford to give John 400k for his savings and buy me a Muka Card (for HP regen) and an Eggyra Card (for SP regen)! Excellent! Now I have to invest a little time in Payon hunting Munaks for the slotted shoes as they are getting strangely over-expensive.
I think the prices on Sakray (that's our game server) are rising as of late. My guess is with the Amatsu craze being over, people from the other servers have gone back to theirs and there are significantly fewer players on Sakray. That means there are fewer people finding useful items. My other guess is that with the fewer people in combination with the monster locations moving have made it difficult for people to re-learn the maps. My last guess is because this may also compound onto the fact that they've made the monsters a notch meaner. You get hit more often now and you'll notice it as an Agility-based character, but it's not impossible to play, merely.... annoying. ¬___¬" But with monsters being more difficult to kill, this makes items that much more profitable provided you get more than you put into killing the damned thing to begin with.

I hope my Perler beads come in the mail today! That's gonna be soooo much fun! I've been waiting for them since I ordered them last week. What's even better about them is you can stick the suckers on the flatbed scanner and show them off in a gallery! MEH HEH HEH! So I'll be making a Perler bead gallery in my online gallery, too.
This weekend John and I got our prescriptions renewed, both of us are getting disposable contact lenses. Isn't that awesome?! I mean for John since his prescription is so high, it wasn't possible for him to get disposable lenses until just this weekend! See, they just barely came out for disposables for particularly high prescriptions a month ago. Isn't that phenomenal!? I think it is, with medical technology from one year to the next you see so many new and cool things coming out to help people. Medical technology is fascinating, they've come so far with their research, I hope they will all receive new funding after this coming election! The "eye puffer" machines were new, too. If you've never had an exam for soft contact lenses, they examine your eye with an air puffer I think for gauging the pressure of your eye. This new one is much gentler and it doesn't leave an air bubble under your eye which, believe me, feels really funky. I have to go back next Sunday for my eye dialation. That's gonna be "fun"... Gack! They put in drops to force open your pupils so that the optometrist can get a better look at your eye. John had it done yesterday since he was due for one, but I scheduled mine for next week when I go in for my checkup and place my prescription order.
Hopefully if I have enough energy today after work, I'll be doing a little cleaning up in the bedroom. The bedroom looks like a laundromat exploded in there! I have SO much clothes and so little space to put it all in. I'm going to have to figure out what doesn't fit me anymore, fold it up, put it into plastic bags, and donate it to the Salvation Army. They've got large donation bins where you can put stuff into. I'd rather donate it than throw it away, it could be more useful to someone else that way.
Shhh!! I've got plans for a present for my dad. I'm still in the process of figuring out how to go about it, but I'll get John to help me with the technical details. Everything else I can do on my own.

It's Monday, but I'm happy...
