09/17/2004 Archived Entry: "The middle of Friday..."
It's the middle of Friday, I can't wait until I can go home and enjoy my weekend. I hope my DVD comes in the mail today! I ordered a DVD full of "Inspector Gadget" cartoons, it'll be just like it was when I was little and watching Nickelodeon!
Which reminds me, I sorely need to update my 80's nostalgia website! My poor page has been neglected for far too long and my html skills have improved since its last update dramatically. So with any luck, I'll be able to create a new design for it.
In Ragnarok Online news...
John's home sick with a cold, but at least he gets to stay home and watch the Ragnarok cartoon series all day. We got the newsletter for the Kun Lun addition to the game today! Wow! It's supposed to be ancient Chinese architecture and it looks beautiful! Who knows when we'll actually be getting it, though. I'm guessing it'll be after Christmas and John thinks it'll be for Halloween along with Niffelheim. I think Niffelheim is coming after Umbala, but now I'm all mixed up! Niffelheim is like you threw Halloweentown and Glastheim into a blender and hit the "mass hysteria" button. It looks soooo awesome!
All I'm really hoping for -now- is that we get a Halloween event for next month! Last Halloween, I got a Mr. Scream doing the mini-quest and I fought all the Halloween monsters they put in the major towns like Prontera and Geffen. The first time iRO saw "Skeleton" monsters -was- for the Halloween event, now they are a common monster in Payon caves. At least, they were before Amatsu, I'm not sure where everything is now that Amatsu shook us all up.
Amatsu is fun, but it feels very.... incomplete. It's hard to explain, it feels like there should have been more to it that wasn't placed in and I'm thinking it's because it's the first installment to the Umbala/Kun Lun/Niffelheim project. I'm -hoping- that's what it is, anyway. There is only -one- map for Amatsu field maps, even Comodo has more maps than that and there's never anyone in Comodo itself on Sakray except the few dungeon goers.
My Dancer is almost at base 70! Woooohooo-hoo-hoo! I'm trying to create a high level dancer, because... hell, I've seen a level 99 NOVICE and if someone can make a super-Novice then I can make a high level Dancer. I know of one person on Sakray who's got a level 80-some dancer and who's managed to earn a few MVP's so I know it's possible, but I'm not sure if her stats are like mine. All I know is DEX is what's doing it. My Dancer is primarily a whip user, the highest level whip (Rante) I can get and upgraded to +4. The highest bow I could get is an overplussed arbalest or gakkung bow. Most Dancers and Bards say "DON'T USE YOUR CLASS SPECIFIC WEAPONS!" and I'm saying "That's bull!" I'm thinking they're along the lines of "Just pretend you're a high level Archer." which is all well and good, but I want to see just what I can do with this whip.
My only request for whips.... ELEMENTAL WHIPS!! Please! I'll love you forever if I had a Wind or Fire Whip! I've got game suggestions for weapon ideas for "battle" Dancers, but I don't think I'll get much response on account that hybrids (or deviations from a class' original design) don't get catered to much on RO. Then again, all the other classes get elemental weapons! *sob!* It's unfair that Bards and Dancers get crap for solo skills as it is when even Blacksmiths have the option to either go battle or pure forge. It's like they're saying "You're not supposed to solo, but hey! We'll let Blacksmiths get all these fun combo solo/party skills!"
I wouldn't mind being forced to party if the ensemble skills for Bard/Dancer weren't so friggin' annoying. I've got a full support Priestess, so don't tell me I can't see both sides of this! Soloing is a -must- when you're guildless, partyless, or just don't like dealing with people with poor social skills.
I can't tell you how arrgivating it gets after several hours of deciphering leet. If people really spoke in leet, I'd be responsible for several homocides by now. Understood that when you're in battle, you can't type fast enough, but... DAMN! Sitting down for regen in town where no monsters can spawn and then... "healplz!"... "ur lvl?"... "r u in party?"... Or several hours of people arguing over who or what does more damage. My "favorite" argument... whether it's dex/luk or dex/int for Alchemist skills. (It's dex/int, but int is primarily for regen abilities and better use of skills, AND it's also based on skill level. Anyone who tells you otherwise is daft. Luk is for forgers, not mixers. My Alchy has 1 luk and I've made several hundred blue potions.)
Oooh, that felt good! LoL! I had to get out a good game rant or I'd burst. I think I'll offer Dancer weapon suggestions later today, anyway. Even if I get promptly patted on the head and sent on my way I'll have at least put in the suggestion for consideration.
There's an iRO sprite comic contest, though I'm reluctant to make entries anymore. I'll try anyway...why not? *shrug*
