This is too strange...

From La Mafia returns to the stage....
It’s been a while since La Mafia performed in the Rio Grande Valley.
"I don’t remember the last time," said La Mafia accordionist, keyboardist and producer Armando Lichtenberger Jr. from his Houston office. "It will be good to see the people in the Valley again."

Now I'm -really- curious! Because when I saw La Mafia for the first time, it was a live performance and my Tia Lali somehow got me and my two cousins backstage for pictures with them. I've got those pictures somewhere in one of my boxes, I'll have to dig for it. I didn't know how popular they were back then and I guess it still hasn't sunk in now. LoL! What's got me so curious is whether that one time I saw them play live was the last time they were in the Rio Grande Valley. God, that must've been... more than seven or eight years ago. I don't even remember where it was we went, but I think it was either Harlingen or McAllen and in the fall.

I wonder how daft I am... I mean in general. With my few brushes with celebrity, I never thought much of it at the time.

My mother-in-law blames me for making George Hearn forget his lines. In explanation of -that-, we went to see "A Little Night Music" at the Ravinia and the scene where the father (Fredrick) is undressing for bed George Hearn undresses in his costume down to his skivvies...

...and I go "Eek!"

But didn't think anyone else could have possibly heard me squeak. I couldn't help but go "eek!", really, I couldn't! John says "I think everyone heard that." and so I asked his mom, who was sitting clear across at the other side of the Ravinia seating area if she had heard anyone go "Eek!" during the scene. She said "Yes, was that you?"..... Erm. I guess it really -was- a loud squeak. *fidget* I swear now, George Hearn is gonna pull a Sweeney Todd on me one of these days.

"It was YOU!!" *pulls out shaving knife*
"I couldn't help it, your legs are so pale!" *shriek! run!*

And that one time I went to New York for the Roseland Ball gig for David Bowie's "Heathen" album. Soon after the show, we went to a pub and I stayed there while John and his buddy Kevin went out for some food. Carlos "Guitarlos" Alomar was there. Cora says, "Go and get your picture taken!" and so I do and then get the picture signed. That picture must've stayed in my purse for months and months until I finally stuck it up on my cork board at home. Maybe I'm an ingrate?? I don't think he's a -bad- person or anything like that, I just... I dunno. I was standing next to him and I still felt miles away. Maybe it's my ADD or something??

Now I'm curious... if they dropped someone on my head and go "Look! Look! It's So-and-So from What's-It's-Name! It's insanely popular!" if I'd just stare like a deer in the headlights. I can think of several responses to this off-hand...

1. "Who??"
2. "What am -I- supposed to do with him/her?"
3. "Great, they show up when I needed to have had a shower first..."
