I'm thinking of ways to earn money on the side for my dream doll , I've thought of making plushies. Seriously this time, so yesterday I was looking on Ebay for ideas and today I'll be brainstorming a little, too. I've got enough materials that I already own to make some plushies by sewing machine or by hand.

My poor sewing machine, it's not exactly brand new. It's been fixed at a sewing machine repair shop, so it works just fine it's just really hard to keep the tension on it working. I'm not sure if it's just that model of machine or what but the tension goes wonky on it after using it for half an hour. If you've ever used a non-computer driven sewing machine you'll see it's got this little button on top that controls the tension of the needle. It acts kind of like a clicky pen, you push it down to set it and at the lowest setting you can pop it all the way back up to the top. *sigh* I miss my mom's old Singer, that thing was excellent. One day I'll have me a nice sewing machine.

Yes, I sew. Just this morning I sewed the button back onto John's work shirt. It comes in handy to know how to fix things by hand, even in this age of high-end technology it often spends -less- time just doing it by hand with a needle and thread. I've repaired a lot of my comfortable clothing by just sewing up the holes instead of throwing it away. Thanks to my mom, I learned how to embroider and sew. John's mom knows how to cross-stitch and stitch well! It may be "girly" to know how to crotchet and sew but it comes in handy to know how to repair things you use often! Even military men had to learn how to sew for their uniform inspections. It's no good just to iron it on, you know, the adhesive will melt off in the wash!

Which reminds me, I need to find my sewing machine manual. If I can get the model number I can probably order parts to fix it.

In any case, I'm thinking of making a "Starluck" original plushy with a master pattern and just making them by hand with little printed tags and using it to raise extra cash. So I'll be posting a poll on my message board for ideas.
